East Cobb

Home to about 175,890, East Cobb is an unincorporated, upscale community in Cobb County, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta. East Cobb does not fall within any census-designated place, but within the Northeast Cobb census county division. Small communities, many established early in the area's post-Cherokee history, include Mount Bethel in present day central East Cobb, Shallowford Falls, Sandy Plains, Noonday, Blackwells, and Westoak. East Cobb consists primarily of unincorporated areas near Marietta and Roswell, as defined by United States Postal Service ZIP codes 30062, 30066, 30067, and 30068.

Education
As the second largest school system in Georgia, the Cobb County School District is responsible for educating more than 112,000 students. East Cobb comprises several high school attendance districts: Pope, Sprayberry, Wheeler, Walton, and Lassiter - some of the top schools in the state.

In 2015 Kennesaw State merged with Southern Polytechnic State University to form a new KSU with over 140 degree programs including nationally ranked degrees in business, engineering and first-year programs, as well as premier teaching, nursing, architecture, science and math programs.

Transportation
Located about 10 miles north of Atlanta, East Cobb is easy accessible from Interstates 75 and 285.

CobbLinc is the new name for buses and other transit services provided by Cobb County. New routes and 35 new WiFi-equipped buses serve the residents of Cobb on a daily basis.

Cobb County International Airport - McCollum Field is a major general aviation reliever airport for Hartsfield-Jackson. Atlanta-Hartsfield International Airport is about thirty minutes south of Kennesaw, GA.

Employment
Cobb County consistently ranks lower in unemployment than the state average. The area's top employers include The Home Depot, Cobb County Schools, WellStar Health Systems, Lockheed Martin, Cobb County Government, Publix Super Markets and Dobbins Air Force Base.

Cobb County Healthcare
The region supports four large hospitals. The largest is WellStar Kennestone Hospital, one of only four designated trauma centers in metro Atlanta. The system's emergency center is the second busiest in Georgia.

Shopping & Recreation
Merchant's Walk is a 367,600-square-foot open-air shopping center with retailers, restaurants, and a movie theater. The East Cobber newspaper called the center the "heart" of the East Cobb community. The Avenue East Cobb is on Roswell Road has a horseshoe-shaped form and a "period-style Main Street design". Paper Mill Village is a collection of retail and restaurants linked by over a mile of pedestrian walkways.

A popular annual event is the Taste of East Cobb. The McKlesky Family-East Cobb YMCA is located on East Piedmont Road. East Cobb Park is a popular recreational area.
