Waleska is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia, about 40 miles north of Atlanta. This quaint town, incorporated in 1889, was named after the Indian princess, Warluskee. Today the anchor of this small community is Reinhardt University. CRPA operates Garland Mountain Horse & Hiking Trails in Waleska. Over 15 miles of trails wind their way through 544 wooded acres for horse or foot traffic. The trailhead has trailer parking, a pavilion and restrooms.

History and the Arts

Waleska is home to the Funk Heritage Center, Georgia's Official Frontier and Southeastern Indian Interpretive Center located on the Reinhardt University campus. The Falany Performing Arts Center, also on the campus of Reinhardt, offers programming which spans from the classics, rich with musical tradition, to new forms of music, theatre, song and dance.
